STIL is a research project on the use of speech technology in lower secondary school. In this project we aim to develop and evaluate an intervention based on speech-to-text technology (STT) to improve writing skills among Norwegian 8th, 9th and 10th grade students.
Speech recognition technology converts verbal language into digital text. Until recently, speech technology has only been available to some students with special educational needs and the quality of the technology has been rather poor. Today, with the enhancement of artificial intelligence, speech technology has a significantly higher accuracy rate, and is available to all students across several digital platforms.
